Obituary

Salem, Elaine, 79, Johnstown, passed away October 12, 2021. Born March 6, 1942, to the late Homer and Ruth (Alhborn) Marsh. Preceded in death by sister, Dorothy Harmotta. Survived by children, Chris Salem (Lena); Tim Salem (Sandy); Connie Murnin (Tim); grandchildren, Jessie, Matt, Michelle, Monica, Terri, Kathy, Tim, and Missy; and 9 great grandchildren and counting. Elaine worked for 30 plus years at Cambria Hardware as a cashier and data entry person. She did a great job raising her 3 children. In her 30’s she caught the bug of riding motorcycles. She belonged to the Johnstown Touring Club and Women on Wheels, and she earned the name “Bag Lady”. She rode through 35 states, Canada, and Nova Scotia. When her riding got a little less, she found another hobby at her son Chris’ cabin. She rode the tractor cutting grass, planted flowers, painted, and just enjoyed the outdoors. Elaine joined a group of gals at the Cambria County Library, who called themselves “Hooked on Crochet of Johnstown”, who crocheted varies items and donated them to hospitals and other charitable organizations.
