Obituary

Cernansky, Elizabeth Marie, 87, Johnstown, passed away January 22, 2026, at Memorial Medical Center. Born August 10, 1938, to the late Charles and Marie (Sandrus) Craig. Preceded in death by husband, Robert Cernansky; brothers, Patrick and Bernie; and sisters, Patricia and Dorothy. Survived by son, Craig Cernansky; sister, Eleanor Berger; brother, Robert Lytle; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved dog, Sara. Elizabeth was a devoted teacher for 50 years. She taught within both public and Catholic schools. She was a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir. Elizabeth’s favorite place in the world was Kooser Park in Somerset. She enjoyed art and painting. Above all, Elizabeth’s main focus and love was for her family. She will be greatly missed. At Elizabeth’s request, there will be no public services. Donations may be made in her memory to the Blind Association.
