Obituary

Woods, Elizabeth R. “Rita”, 91, Hastings, passed away Monday, August 1, 2016, at St. Benedict Manor, St. Benedict, PA.  Born October 13, 1924, near Carrolltown, daughter of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth (Kochis) Smith.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Paul F. Woods; a daughter, Pauline Lockwood; a son, Paul J. Woods; brothers John, Vincent, Nicholas, Michael, Edward, Robert, and Alfred; sisters Rose, Mary, Margaret, Dorothy and Bertha. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Rita is survived by children Carol (Michael) Jarvis, Mary (Calvin) Trinkley, Patricia (James) Kowatch, James Woods, and Richard Woods; grandchildren Karen, Sharon, Pam, Tammy, Mary Beth, Gary, Jason, Sara, and David; great grandchildren Nicole, Joseph, Nicholas, Robert, Devany, and Gary; son-in-law Linn Lockwood; daughter-in-law Margaret Woods; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Thomas and Marylee Woods; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Rita was a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed bingo, bus trips, and flower gardening. The family would like to thank the entire staff at St. Benedict Manor and Home Nursing Agency Hospice, for the care and compassion given to Rita. Friends and family will be received on Thursday, August 4, 2016, from 2- 4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Easly-Hindman Funeral Home, 333 Beaver St., Hastings. A funeral mass will be held on Friday August 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Hastings. Father Thaddeus Rettger, OSB, officiating.  Interment will be at St. Bernard’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice in memory of Rita.
