Obituary

Ponczek, Frederick “Fred”, 83, Johnstown, passed away July 17, 2026, at The Villa Crest. Born September 14, 1942, to the late Walter and Amelia (Kontorchik). Preceded in death by daughter, Michelle Hockenberry. Survived by son, Jason Ponczek (Erica); grandchildren, Aubrey Ponczek; Zachary and Ashlee Hockenberry; great-grandchildren, Aythan, Jude, Sadie, and Rownin; sister, Veronica Hamula; niece, Denice Kirchoff; nephew, Steven Hamula; and special friend, Mikelene Richards. Fred enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, golfing, hunting, and fishing. He had a love for Corvettes, drag racing, and attending car shows. Fred also served in the Army National Guard. The family would like to thank the staff at The Villa Crest and Heartland Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion they provided to Fred. Family and friends will be received Monday July 20^th from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd. Father Callistus Elue, officiating.
