Obituary

Podrasky, Geraldine M., 88, Johnstown, died peacefully early, January 30, 2018 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center’s Good Samaritan Unit, surrounded by family her final days there. A special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit, especially Tracy, PA. Born October 13, 1929 in Johnstown. Daughter of the late John and Edith (Graham) Bane. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Josephine; brother, Robert Bane; and niece, Janice Furman. Survived by husband, Edward Podrasky; sons, Kenneth Podrasky, VA, and Carl Podrasky, GA; grandchildren, Steven and Elizabeth Podrasky; nephews, Kevin, Robert Jr. and Jeffrey Bane; and nieces, Edith Ann Bane, and Mary Carol Ehringer. Geraldine was a devote catholic and worked as a nurse for the American Red Cross and Bloodmobile. She loved to share her nursing stories with all that would listen. Although she suffered from dementia, her family still recognized her core values until the very end. She was blessed with some unexpected lucidity in her final years, which was a gift and comfort to all. Family and friends will be received Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at St Benedict Church, 2310 Bedford St. Interment at Grandview Cemetery.
