Grace Theresa (Glasson) Priest “Gigi”, Born May 1, 1912, lived to be 101 years old.
She passed away peacefully, with her family beside her, at the Church of the Brethren Home, Windber. Proceeded in death by her parents, Gwendolyn (Griffiths) Glasson and John M. Glasson, her brother Jack Glasson, husband of more than 50 years, Eugene J. Priest Jr., and granddaughter Becky (Van Scoyoc) Hoffman. Survived by her devoted children Gwendalee LaFleur, Johnstown; Theresa Stuckert, wife of William, Racine, WI; and Kevin Priest, wife Jennifer (Rice), Johnstown. Also survived by adoring grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren: Kimberly (John) Williams, Amanda (Jerry) Hutkowski, Megan Stuckert, Sarah (Tommy) Riffle, Mike (Brittany Baumbaugh) Priest, Carly Priest, Abby Grace Williams, Austin Williams, Meghaan (Craig) Markham, Brooke Smith, Gabby “The Little One” Riffle, Anika Grace Klein, Calista Klein, Geonna Riffle, Arabella Hutkowski, and Rylan Grace Markham. Grace is also survived by special niece and nephews, Margie Rose (Heinrich) Jeschonek, Ben Heinrich, and Barry Van Scoyoc, with whom she shared many special times. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Grace was truly a Child of God as she was a member of Westmont Presbyterian Church for more than 80 years. Grace was always thinking of and serving others. As a deacon of the church and an active volunteer of the Salvation Army (Racine, WI), she visited those in the hospital, those homebound, and those in prison, as well as taught Sunday school for many years. Her early loves in life were horses and music. She rode and taught lessons through Johnstown Jr. Horseman, and later, when not with her grandkids, you could find Grace at the piano for hours at a time playing and singing her favorite hymns. Grace also loved to travel and spend time at the ocean with her family. Our “Amazing Grace” will be watching over us!
The family is being serviced by Hindman Funeral Home & Crematory. At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation, however, there will be a memorial service to honor Grace on June 14th at 4pm at the Westmont Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Bill Jackson officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be mailed to the Church of the Brethren Home, 277 Hoffman Ave. Windber, PA 15963.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Church of the Brethern Home for the loving care they provided over the years.
