Obituary
Weigel, Harry A. Jr., 68, of Johnstown, passed away at Memorial Medical Center on Saturday, March 3, 2018. Born April 18, 1949, in Johnstown, the beloved son of Harry A. and K. Elizabeth (Young) Weigel. He was an uncle and friend to all who were blessed to have known him. Survived by siblings, Suzanne Ashman (Jeff), Barbara McClintock (Robert), Columbus, OH; Vivian Loring (Thomas), Franktown, VA; David Weigel (Emma), New Florence, PA. Brother of the late Martha Mowery (John), Austin, TX and Ronald Weigel (Joanne). Harry is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; aunt, Marie Medeiros, and his loyal companions Copper and Fitz. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. He had been employed by Catholic Charities, Appalachian Youth Services, Cambria Residential Services, and Goodwill Industries which he served with a compassionate heart. He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church where he was the vice president of Church Council. Former tutor and board member of Cambria County Literacy Council. His character defined him. He was always available to lend a helping hand, mentor a child who had difficulty reading, or send a card to bring cheer to others. He loved to “stroll along the promenade” in Cape May, NJ, hike the woods to Buttermilk Falls, read by the fire at Sinnemahoning. Time spent among his family and friends was always a joy for him, and making people laugh was his gift. He could never pass up a yard sale. There truly was no one like Harry, and his presence will be forever missed at our family gatherings. The family wishes to thank his very dear friends Cindy and Rick Hess and Brenda and Frank Thomas for all of their love and support during this difficult time. Memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
