Obituary

MARDIS Ione, 91, died Oct. 30, 2011, at Arbutus Park Manor. Born July 29, 1920, in Belsano, daughter of the late Harry and Ellie (Cramer) Bracken.

Preceded in death by husband, Samuel Boyd Mardis; daughter, Sandra E. Mardis; sisters, Charlotte Devaney and Lola Marie McFeaters; and brother, Harold Bracken. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Survived by sons, Samuel Reed Mardis, and wife, Judith (Cekella), Westmont; and Harold Boyd Bud Mardis, and wife, Judith (Betz), Johnstown; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A member of Summit Chapel United Methodist Church, where she also was in the choir and a member of United Methodist Women.

Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 1521 Frankstown Road. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Summit Chapel United Methodist Church, the Rev. John Weaver, officiating. Interment, Headricks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Summit Chapel United Methodist Church.
