Obituary

Rager, Jack, 89, passed away July 9th, 2026, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. He was born July 13, 1936, in Johnstown, where he resided his entire life. Son of the late Archie Ellsworth Rager Sr. and Jennie June (White) Rager. Preceded in death by 10 siblings, Ronald, Joseph Edward, Sara Rebecca, Archie Ellsworth Jr, Jennie June, Virginia Rose, Sylvester Dean, Richard, Edna Mae and Betty Jean. Survived by loving wife of 70 years, Shirley Elaine (Shearman) Rager; son, Brian Jack Rager (Gloria Jean Reed); daughters, Tammy Lynn (Rager) Diamond (Steven Walker Diamond); Pamela Jean (Rager) Solich (Edward Thomas Newcomer Sr.); 6 grandchildren, Michael Jack Rager (Jessica Lynn Bush); Jennifer Lynn (Rager) Conley (Roger Todd Conley); Scott Thomas Rager (Anna Elizabeth Stanhewicz); Sarah Elizabeth Diamond (Ryan Martin); Samuel Ray Diamond (Alison Robin Leese); Kathryn Ann (Diamond) Olson (Joshua Jacobs Olson); and 11 great grandchildren, Harlie Jean Rager; Jordan Brianne Rager; Alyssa Thaire Rager; Spencer Jaclyn Rager; Zoey Rae Conley; Zane Bridan Conley; Zeke Roger Conley; Henry David Rager; Adam Reid Rager; Hattie Mae Olson; and Declan Aidan Olson. Jack and Bernard Seth were the owners of Urban Enterprises a tile setting company. Together they laid many impressive floors, walls and murals in tile and developed a lifelong friendship. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Community Church and a founding member of the Middle Taylor Township Citizens Group which made many improvements to the township where he lived. Jack loved going to auctions and enjoyed camping, especially at Good Sam Club. He belonged to the Greater Johnstown Coin Club and was an avid square dancer of Track II Club. Family and friends will be received Tuesday July 14th from 4-7 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 146 Chandler Ave. Additional viewing will be held on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Community Church, 856 Benshoff Hill Rd., Johnstown, PA 15906. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pleasant Hill Community Church.
