Obituary

Varnish, James D., 70, Johnstown, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at his home. He was born November 7, 1947 in Johnstown, a son of the late John D. and Alice M. (Rafferty) Varnish.  James is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Sheila E. (Deneen), his daughter, Kimberly Ann Baldwin, his siblings, Robert Varnish, and John Varnish. James is survived by his son Jason Varnish and his wife Julie, Pittsburgh; his grandchildren Addison and Jack, his sisters, Sandra Lamb, Westmont; Jackie Chadwick, South Carolina; his nephews, Robert Varnish Jr., and Parish Varnish; his nieces Alicia Varnish, Janine Jones, Jessica Wingard, and Allyson Frick. James was a retired general contractor and the owner of Jim Varnish Contractors. James enjoyed carpentry, and stained glass windows. James was involved in AA & NA, and was responsible for starting the very first NA meetings in Johnstown, he also enjoyed helping people so while he owned his business he would buy a truckload of turkeys every year at Thanksgiving to give to those in need.  At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing or services.
