Thompson, James R., 93, Johnstown, passed away December 21, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center. Born March 2, 1927 to the late James and Mary Ruth (Rodgers) Thompson. Preceded in death by wife, Alice Thompson; daughter, Ruth Mahon; and sister, Ivis Caiarelli. Survived by children, Jane Thomas and husband James; Nancy DelSignore and husband Joseph; Tom Thompson and wife Susan; Mary Lou Barnhart and husband Dave; brother, John Dale Thompson and wife Sue; grandson whom James resided with, Chuck Mahon, and 10 other grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; beloved dog, Maggie; and beloved cat, Sammy. James was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a Tin Can Sailor, who served during WWII. He first retired from the Johnstown Police Department, where he was a patrol officer and a detective. James was then employed as truck driver for Crane Company where he eventually retired from. James loved spending time at Jim and Jimmies. He considered the people there as his extended family. James was a Mason, loved animals, and spending time with his family and friends. Immediate services will be held privately.
