Obituary

Glass, Janis D. (Thomstatter), 77, Jackson Twp. died August 1, 2012 at Good Samaritan Nursing Care Center. Born December 30, 1934; daughter of the late Charles and Sara (Baserman) Thomstatter. Preceded in death by husband, Kenneth J. Glass and brother-in-law, William Thirkell. Survived by son, Jeffrey, Vinco; sisters, Shirley Schmidt and husband, Donald, Ligonier; and Valeria Thirkell, AZ; sisters-in-law, Leona Puch and husband, Joseph, Vinco; Irene Karnosky and Dolores Carpentar, both of Richland; dear friend, Jessica Gephardt, Germany and also numerous nieces and nephews and loyal companion “Taffey”.
Janis was a graduate of Johnstown High School and she worked at WJAC TV as a traffic manager and then served as a legal secretary for 40 years. She was a member of Jackson Twp. Senior Citizens and was a dedicated NASCAR fan, especially for Jeff Gordon. She loved bus trips and shopping.
Friends received 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. 1521 Frankstown Rd. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. John Vianney Church, Fr. Andrew Stanko officiating. Entombment Richland Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers those who wish may make memorial donations to the St. John Vianney church building fund or American Diabetes Association.
