Obituary

Lacko, John J., 71, Johnstown, died March 9, 2013 at Laurelwood Care Center. Born May 17, 1941 in Johnstown, son of the late John and Millicent (Opacic) Lacko. Preceded in death by wife, Martha F. (Meckley) and son, Ralph J. Lacko. Survived by daughters, Michelle (Craig) Cushman and Martha Jane Nicholson and fiance, Fred Miller Jr., both of Johnstown; grandchildren, Darion J. Lacko, Mechanicsburg; Hanna Nicholson and Jeffrey Nicholson, both of Johnstown; godson, TC Zack, Johnstown and sister, Jeane, married to Ray Lint, Johnstown and sister-in-law, Hazel Meckley, Las Vegas, NV and brother-in-law, David (Phyllis) Meckley, Las Vegas, NV. Also survived by numerous aunts; uncles; cousins; nieces and nephews, and special friend, Shirley Burns. John was a retired policeman for Capital Police in Harrisburg, a US Army and National Guard Veteran and a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Senior Center, where he was a good pool player and in the Senior Olympics. John was a track star at Garfield and Johnstown High Schools; a former choir member and current church council member and worked at Grandview Cemetery for 4 years. He was an avid Steelers, Penguins and Tomahawks fan. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. Friends are invited to a memorial service at 11am Thursday, at Grace Lutheran Church. Nancy Hoover, officiating. Private inurnment will be held at Grandview Cemetery.
