Obituary

Mikitko, Kathleen M., 82, Hastings, died August 21, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center. Born January 8, 1932, in Marsteller, PA; she was the daughter of Oscar and Helen (Weakland) Link. Preceded in death by her parents;  her husband  of 55 years Andrew; first husband, Pete Kostura (killed in action in Korean War); infant son, Joseph; siblings, Russell, Pat, and Elaine. Kathleen is survived by her loving daughters, Constance (Randy) Getman, Chesapeake Beach, MD; Beth Ann (Lenny) Myslivy, Northern Cambria; Andrea (Steve) Ebert; Kathy Mikitko, both of Alexandria, VA; seven grandchildren, Miranda and Michael Getman; Nicki (Frank) Vella; April Myslivy; Aaron and Stephani Ebert; and Andy Mikitko; two great-grandchildren, Wesley and Camryn Vella; siblings, Orville, Nancy, Bill, Connie, and Dolly; she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and her special friend Becky Selestok. Kathleen retired from Intermediate Unit 8 in Cambria County as a special-needs caregiver. She also worked in the Patton Shirt factory earlier in life. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, she was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, she was the Treasurer of the Senior Citizen Center, she enjoyed bowling, puzzles, playing cards, traveling, watching plays at Cresson Lake Playhouse, and going out for pizza with her friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her and the sound of her laughter will forever be in our hearts. Family and friends will be received from 2pm to 6pm Sunday at Easly-Hindman Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 333 Beaver Street, Hastings. And Monday  from 10a.m. until time of funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Hastings. Father Thaddeus Rettger, OSB, celebrant. Interment will be at St. Bernard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association 7272 Greenville Ave. Dallas, TX 75231or the National Kidney Foundation 30 East 33rd Street New York, NY 10016 in memory of Kathleen.
