Larry Allen Burdett
Larry Allen Burdett was born on January 18, 1950, at the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital in Kittanning, PA, to Harold Charles and Arlene Mae (Wolfe) Burdett. He passed away at the Veteran’s Health Center in Butler, PA, at 11:35am on June 23, 2013.
Larry was pre-ceded in death by his father on May 24, 1982, his mother on November 22, 2004 and his youngest brother, Roger, on March 21, 2006.
Larry is survived by his wife, Mary Agnes Kengerski and step-daughter, Annika Strohm; brother, Harold Charles Burdett, Jr (Judith), and sister, Linda Ruth (Eugene) Burdett Courson.
He is also survived by nephew Matthew Lane (LisaReagan) Burdett; Lisa Michelle (BrianMadelyn, Nathaniel) Burdett Lang; Timothy Andrew (Beverly) Burdett; Jodi Lynn (MichaelTyler, Megan, Karas) Burdett Gentry; Robyn Renee Burdett; and Keisha Marie (–Isaiah, Robert Jr, Ariana) Burdett.
Larry was raised in Ford Cliff, PA, and attended Pleasant View Elementary school and Ford City High School, graduating in 1967. He went on to Penn State College to study engineering before enlisting in the United States Army.
In the Army, Larry served time in North Korea and two tours in Viet Nam. Larry was awarded several medals, including two Bronze Stars.
Larry retired from Allegheny Ludlum Steel Mill and spent his time enjoying his passion for fly fishing and sharing his passion with all who would listen. He found great delight in teaching others to fly fish and often gave away ties he had made to help instill his passion for this sport to others.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at the House of Hope Family Worship Center at 1164 Pleasant View Drive, Vandergrift, PA, 15690 at 3 pm. All are welcome to come memorialize the life of Larry Allen Burdett.
