Obituary

Howard, Leroy E. “Pee Wee”, 92, Johnstown, passed away December 11, 2021. Born November 28, 1929, to the late Daniel H. and Edith (Makin) Howard. Preceded in death by his siblings, Miriam (Robert) Varner, Robert (Joan) Howard, Ruth (Cy) Mansour, Donna (William) Jones and George (Beverly) Howard, along with five half brothers and sisters. Survived by his loving wife of 71 years Phyllis R. (Bretz) Howard; son, Jeffrey L. (Heidi Berkey) Howard; grandson Justin L. Howard; sister-in-law Delores and husband Charles Durham, and numerous nieces and nephews. He served in Alaska with the Army during the Korean conflict. He worked 35 years for Penn Traffic Company and ran his own appliance repair business, Howard’s Appliance Repair, from 1982 until 2006.  He served as Assistant Scoutmaster of Boy Scout troop 214, was a recipient of the Award of Merit, and performed in the Our Gang variety show presented by the scouts of Penns Woods Council.  He was a lifetime member of the Morrellville Church of The Brethren where he taught Sunday School for more than 50 years.  Friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 followed by a memorial service on December 18th at the Morrellville Church of The Brethren, 408 Chandler Ave., Johnstown, PA.
