Obituary

Dusack, Loretta M. “Peg”, 80, of Windber, passed away at her home on December 27, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and friends with Elvis Presley playing in the background. Born September 13, 1944, daughter of the late Woodrow Wilson and Margaret Earleen (Lynch) Simmers. Preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 53 years, Jim; and siblings, Bud and Kay. Survived by daughter, Kerry, wife of “Bubba” Stephen Sewalk, their children, Marlee and Jake, fiancé, Abby; son, Donn Dusack, husband of Kay, and great-grandsons, Aiden and Killian; and sons, James and Ken Dusack and their wives and families; beloved dog, Molly; devoted and faithful best friend of 54 years, Connie Wyandt; siblings, Jack, Jerry, and Karen; as well as other close friends and neighbors. She was a strong advocate for the people of Mine 42, serving as a past Adam’s Township auditor, having led the debate with Verizon to expand phone calling boundaries for that area in 2002, as well as participating in arguments to ensure that strip mining did not occur too close to the town limits. Peg loved to laugh and play bingo. She will be remembered as a wonderful homemaker, who enjoyed crafting, cooking, and baking. Peg was also an avid golfer and bowler. She enjoyed nothing more than sitting with those she loved, friends and family alike, at her kitchen table with a cup of coffee, enjoying the town news. Peg was someone who asked so little, but gave so much. She loved her family, friends, and town fiercely. She will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched. At Peg’s request, there will be no services. The family wishes to thank her long-time family physician, Dr. Wieczorek, Windber Hospice, and Dr. Miccio at Penn State Health Milton S Hershey Medical Center.
