Obituary

Penatzer, Marcia Lynne “Marci”, 61, Johnstown, passed away October 4, 2025, at her home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Born June 1, 1964, in Johnstown, to the late Devonne and Shirley (Graham) Bowman. Recently preceded in death by husband, Jeffrey Penatzer. Survived by daughters, Kirsten Held (Dustin); and Carly Garman; step children, Ashley Penatzer and fiancé Sterling Spencer; Zachary Penatzer (Rebekah); grandchildren, Ryker, Emersyn, Paxten, Zion, Bryson, and two on the way; siblings, Roger Bowman (Kim); Lori Sturey (John); Linda Bellis (Joe); siblings-in-law, Keith Penatzer (Donna); Mark Penatzer (Canice); Karen Richardson (Jeff); Jennifer Bopp; Joel Penatzer (Suzanne); Claudine Croyle (Steve); Ray Penatzer (Carissa); numerous nieces and nephews; and faithful companion, Lola. For more than 40 years, Marci was dedicated to Cambria Residential Services and serving individuals with disabilities. She was also a devoted Pee Wee Cheerleading coach at Conemaugh Valley for many years. She will be remembered for her strength, compassion, and selflessness. Special thank you to UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and Windber Hospice for all the compassionate care they provided to Marci. Family will receive friends Wednesday October 8^th from 2-8 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd., where a service will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Dave Streets, officiating. Burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Germany. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Johnstown Walk of Hope or Cambria County Association for the Blind and Handicapped.
