Obituary

SNOBY- Mary Catherine, 84, of Armagh, was peacefully taken by God from her family to a new home on August 22, 2013. Mary Catherine was born in Johnstown on December 8, 1928, the feast day of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, and preceded in death by her parents Emmett and Myrtle Mae (Studt) Gatins and brother, John Gatins. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert L. Snoby and children; Robert L. Snoby, Jr. and his wife the former Vicki Diehl, Deborah Ann Stinson and her husband Larry, Linda Lee Kozak and her husband Gary, and her sister Barbara Ann Bracken. Mary Catherine was the grandmother of Amy (Snoby) Pleskovic and husband David, Scott Stinson and wife Melissa (Kocut), Michael Kozak and fiance Ashley Hershberger, Lesley (Snoby) Ropp and husband Gregory, Mark Stinson and Justine Marcus, and Sarah (Kozak) Mihalic and husband John. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren; Savannah Catherine Stinson and Emily Catherine Pleskovic. Mary Catherine married her high school sweetheart, Robert, on July 16, 1951 and celebrated 62 years of marriage this past July. She was a devoted wife and mother who placed the needs of others before her own and took pride in all of her children, grandchildren and their families. She enjoyed the company of her relatives and friends during the holidays and at family gatherings because this was most important to her. Sundays were special for attending services at Calvary United Methodist Church where she was a long-time member, and in visiting with her sister Barbara Ann. In her last days, the love and caring that Mary Catherine gave to the people in her life was generously returned to her by family and friends. She showed us great strength and a quiet dignity; and as she goes from this world to God’s embrace knows that she was loved beyond measure. Sadly, she will be missed by all who knew her, but happily will begin a new and eternal life acting as the guardian angel for each of her great-grandchildren. At the request of the family there will be no visitation and only a private service will be held. In her memory, please make donations to the Windber Hospice. Arrangements in care of the Hindman Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., “Exclusive Provider of Veterans and Family Memorial Care.” Condolences may be made at HindmanFuneralHomes.com
