Obituary

Matcho, Mary Ellen, 89, Johnstown, passed away October 21, 2026, at Arbutus Park Manor. Born January 20, 1937, in Johnstown, daughter of the late William and Mary (Picklo) Haupt. Preceded in death by husband, John Matcho; daughter, Vicke Holley and husband Ronald; sisters, Esther and Bertha Mae; and brothers, Theodore, Thomas, Howard, and Joseph. Survived by daughter, Nancy Webb and husband David, Johnstown; three granddaughters that she loved dearly, Jill (Holley) Lamb and husband Chris; Amy (Holley) Howard and husband Josh; Allison (Webb) Campitell; and great grandchildren, Benjamin and Luke Campitell; Olivia and Jonathan Howard. Mary Ellen loved the Lord and was an active member of the former Bethel United Methodist Church where she could often be found helping in the kitchen with funeral luncheons. Her and John were loved members of the Goodwill Sunday Class. Mary Ellen was also a member of the VFW #155 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed making quilts for her family, cooking everybody’s favorite food, and growing flowers. Family would like to thank Arbutus for the compassionate care they provided for Mary Ellen. Family and friends will be received Monday October 26^th from 2-6 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd.
