Obituary

Zelek, Michael Walter, 57, Johnstown, passed from this world October 30, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center to become the newest member of Heaven’s Choir, which certainly has a Rock ‘n’ Roll vibe now. Born April 25, 1959, Johnstown, son of Michael G. and Frances A. (Killian) Zelek. Preceded in death by his father, maternal grandparents, Anna and Walter Killian; and his paternal grandparents, Angeline and Michael P. Zelek. Survived by his wife, Deborah Vivis, who will cherish memories of their travel, drive-ins, and afternoon rides; daughter, Lindsey Jo; mother, Frances A. Zelek and her companion, Pat Stephens; sister, Dr. Lisa M. Walters, wife of Dr. Thomas A. Walters of Erie; favorite nephew, Nicholas Jude Walters, who will miss his uncle and their talks dearly; and his loving aunts and uncles, cherished cousins, with whom he enjoyed many wonderful times and conversations. Michael was a talented and established guitar player, well-known in the community his whole life. He never had formal music lessons, but if he could hear it, he could play it. He was a 1977 graduate of Conemaugh Valley High School and a 2000 graduate of Hiram G. Andrews Dental Laboratory Program. He made many life-long friends as a result of his varied experiences and will be missed by all these friends. We would like to thank all those who have shared in Michael’s life, especially those that shared in his love of music. His sense of humor, musical talent, and his sense of family brought us all much joy. He is now climbing the Stairway to Heaven. Friends will be received Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd., where a Celebration of Life Service will be held, Thursday, Nov. 3 at 10:30 a.m., Father Robert L.
