Obituary
BERKICH Nicholas C., “Bubba,” 62, Johnstown, died peacefully July 11, 2012. Born Sept. 11, 1949, in Johnstown, son of the late Nicholas and Betty (Gustkey) Berkich. Preceded in death by father-in-law, Richard Fitz. Survived by wife, the former Deborah E. Fitz, Johnstown; mother-in-law, Mona Fitz, Johnstown; sister, Kathleen Shaffer, and husband, Richard, Conemaugh; brother, Mark Berkich, and wife, Pam, Texas; sister, Tracy Gast, and husband, William, Texas; brothers-in-law, Craig and Alan Fitz, Johnstown; nieces, Sharon Shaffer and Holly Mamo, both of Virginia, and Josie Fitz, Windber; nephew, Nicholas Shaffer, Conemaugh; and great-nephew, Isaiah Mamo, Virginia. Also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Bubba was a member of First Lutheran Church, Daisytown Sportsmen’s Club and Franklin Fire Company. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and boating. He also loved all music and playing his drums for all occasions and loved his high school football days. Bubba enjoyed being a catcher for Monte Carlo in the junior league. He loved his two pet cats, Chipper and Ashes. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 1521 Frankstown Road. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, Vine Street, the Rev. Eleanor Abarno, officiating. Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery.
