Obituary

Bayan, Nicole Mildred was born August 15, 1928, in Johnstown, PA; died February 8, 2025, at McCullough Place senior care facility in Southmont. Preceded in death by her parents, Constantine and Christina Kristoff Nicoloff; sister Olga King; brothers Thomas and George Nicoloff; and her beloved husband, Joseph T. Bayan. She is survived by son Matthew Bayan and wife Beverly, granddaughters Casey and Michon, Reno, NV; son Gregory Bayan, Johnstown; sister Joanne Koontz, Houston, TX; and a number of nieces and nephews. Called “Nikki” by her friends, she graduated from Johnstown High School in 1946. Later she trained and worked as a laboratory technician at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ, and also worked for several doctors in private practice. Cheerful and compassionate, Nikki was respected throughout the medical community for the precision and thoroughness of her lab work. In 1993 she moved back to the Johnstown area for her retirement. Nikki’s family is deeply grateful for the excellent and attentive care she received as a resident at McCullough Place since 2017. Nikki was a member of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Westmont. As per Nikki’s wishes, her remains were cremated and her ashes will be interred at the grave of her husband in New Jersey later this spring.
