Obituary

Olive “Rose” Hochstein, 78, passed away on June 8, 2026. Born January 3, 1948, to the late Clyde M. and Arbutus P. (Teeter) Michaels. Preceded in death by loving husband, John H. Hochstein, and siblings, Eddie Michaels, and Lewis Michaels. Survived by children, Rosalind Nugent, Joseph Hochstein (Joni), Melinda Keyser, and Bob Hochstein; grandchildren, Darren Horner, Dana Hochstein, Aaron Hochstein, Travis Horner, Catherine Keyser, Matthew Hochstein, and Joseph Hochstein; great grandchildren, Hailee Gindlesperger, Scarlett Horner, Draven Horner, and Zane Horner; siblings, Arthur Michaels, Earl Michaels, Charlotte May, Gary Michaels, and Homer Michaels; special daughter, Tracy Brooks; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Rose was very musical and could play numerous instruments. She enjoyed crafting and crocheting. Rose was known for her kind and giving heart. She was always helping others in her family and community. Rose was a devout member of the Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship Church and was a former member of the Cover Hill and Daisytown Fire Halls. Rose often volunteered her talents for the fire hall Christmas celebrations. Above all else, Rose loved her family dearly and she will be missed greatly by them. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 11:00am at the Forest Lawn chapel, 1530 Frankstown Road. Pastor Jim Gay will be officiating.
