Obituary
MAPSTONE – Paul W. Mapstone, 97, of Jeannette, formerly of Johnstown, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at William Penn Care Center in Jeannette. He was born June 19, 1911 in South Fork, a son of the late Francis Mapstone and Grace McGarvey. He worked for the Conemaugh and Blacklick Railroad and helped to build the twin tunnels of the PA Turnpike. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Conrad; Sisters Agnes Retallack, Dorothy Harshberger, Ruth Bortel, brother Jess Mapstone and daughter Patricia Statnick. He is survived by a son Dale Mapstone and his wife, Doris from Florida and daughter Janice Rafferty and husband Jim from Jeannette. Granddaughter Hadley and husband, David Tidler of Chicago and great-granddaughters Sydney and Morgan. Granddaughter Patty, grandson Tim, granddaughter Bridget and husband Eric Himler, great-grandchildren, Tristen and Claire.
He is also survived by late daughter Patricia’s husband Stephen Statnick, granddaughter Kim and husband Mike Castagnero of Pitcairn, great-grandsons, Michael and Matthew and great-granddaughters Meghan and Madison. Granddaughter Michelle and Michael Giorgione of Hawaii, great-granddaughters, Briana and Ryan. Grandson, Stephen and wife Julianne of Pittsburgh, great-grandchildren Isabella and Stephen.
