Obituary

Knaze, Peter John, 81, of Conemaugh PA, born March 20, 1941, passed away Friday, January 27, 2023. Pete was a simple and good man, loving husband, honored father, and faithful friend. He had great pride in the Conemaugh Valley School district where he served as a school board director for 35 years. He respected the Administration, faculty, students, and all sports programs. He was an avid Blue Jay Fan. Pete also loved his country to which he served 22 years in the Navy and Seabees. His greatest pride was his children, Kristine Shiley, Carolyn Cekada, Peter, and Paula McCleester. Together with his beloved wife, Leona (Gaborek) of 58 years, his caring daughter-in-law, Tracie Blanchetti, and loyal sons-in-law, Bill, Jim, and Scott, who took this last journey with him until the end. He was also blessed to be always surrounded by his grandchildren who loved him so much, Jamie and Cara, Cameron and Caleb, Zack and Jake, Brooke, Bryce and his “baby girl” Madison. Our husband, father, and pap was never left alone and he will be forever in our hearts. Peter is preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Peter; brothers, Frank, Steve and Joe; and sisters, Anna and Helen. Family will receive friends Thursday February 2nd from 9-10:30 a.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd., with mass to follow at 11 a.m. at Church of the Transfiguration.
