Obituary

ALT – Raymond, 60, Johnstown, went home to be with the Lord on June 1, 2013 at UPMC Presbyterian after fighting a long and courageous battle with heart disease. Born March 1, 1953 in Johnstown; son of the late John C. Alt Sr. and Mary C. Alt (Blackford). Preceded in death by brother-in-law, Scott Burgess; and nephew Terry Becker Jr. Survived by his wife Gloria (Muchesko), with whom Ray shared an unbreakable bond, one that only grew stronger as they fought his illness together. Also survived by his two daughters who loved him very much, Julia Keefer married to Michael Keefer, and Amanda Rae Alt; his grandchildren Chandler and Madison Keefer; brothers and sisters, John C. Alt Jr. and wife, Diana; Sandra Becker and husband, Terry; Richard Alt and wife, Janice; Mary Summits and husband, Joe and Barbara Burgess; as well as many nieces and nephews and close friends who were just like family to Ray.
Ray’s source of pride was his family, the one he was born into, and the one he and his loving wife of 34 years created. Ray was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and loved traveling, fishing and cooking. He will be sorely missed, but his legacy as a gentle and loving man will always live on. “If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.”
A special thanks to Ray’s many nurses and doctors for all their wonderful care and support. He was an extremely loving man, who touched the lives of all he met throughout his lifetime.
Friends received 5-9 p.m. Friday at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. 1521 Frankstown Rd. where funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Pastor Nelson Ilgenfritz officiating.
