Obituary

GEIST, Robert Allen, 57, Johnstown, died unexpectedly March 31, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. Born June 26, 1956 in Johnstown; son of the late Allen and Rita (Kinsey) Geist. Preceded in death by sister, Linda Gallo. Survived by wife of 36 years, Darlene R. (Gay) Geist; daughters, Jennifer, Married to Brad Hindman and Meagan McFarland, all of Johnstown; grandchildren, Ava, Sawyer and Carter Hindman and Wyatt McFarland, brother, David Geist and wife Rita, Johnstown; brother-in-law, Gary Gallo, Johnstown; sister and brother-in-law, Barb and Robert McWhirter, Alexandria, VA; and faithful furry companions, Gordon and Tucker.
Rob was an education supervisor at the Hiram G. Andrews Center. Member of First Presbyterian Church, Johnstown Reed Band, Johnstown Community Chorus, and past member of the church session. For 40 years it was tradition that Rob enjoyed Christmas caroling and playing his trombone with friends, Paul, George, John and Louie.
He was a lover of everything Disney and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids along with family vacations to the Outer Banks and Pittsburgh Pirates games.
Friends received Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. 1521 Frankstown Rd. where funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 am, Rev. Alice Tondora, officiaiting.
