Obituary

Our precious brother, Robert Lynn Allison, 65, Johnstown, went to be with Jesus and our mom and dad on February 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving siblings. Born on May 13, 1959, Johnstown, PA, son of the late Jack and Betty (Metzger) Allison. Preceded in death by parents and sister-in-law, Carol Allison. Survived by his loving siblings, Darlene Thomas (Robert); Jack Allison Jr.; Ted Allison (Mary); Bonnie Bouch (Terry). He was the favorite uncle of 13 nieces and nephews, and 13 great-nieces and nephews.

Bobby was a lifelong member of the Pleasant Hill Community Church where he served for many years as usher and church bell ringer. He was employed by Association for the Blind and Handicapped for over 42 years until his retirement in September 2024. He was a Special Olympic gold and silver medalist in both Bowling and Track & Field events and chosen to compete in State College. Bowling was Bobby’s favorite activity for many years, and he especially enjoyed his victories when bowling with his nieces and nephews. He loved riding his mo-ped bike in the neighborhood and was always walking his dog (Nichole) checking on all the neighbors.

Bobby attended CareerLink in Johnstown for many years. In 2005, he was chosen as “Outstanding Adult Learner” by the PA Department of Education. He received this award in Hershey, PA and spoke about his accomplishments. He was a long-time member of the Best-Buddies programs at both UPJ and St. Francis Colleges, and attended Camp PARC for many years, always making new and lasting friendships. He was an avid Pittsburgh Sports enthusiast and attended many Pirate games, and loved his Johnstown Chiefs, where he was a regular attendee and known by many.

Bobby loved and cherished his family. He was especially beloved by his nieces and nephews who were always proud of him and his accomplishments. Above all, his Lord was first in his life, and he always ended his days on his knees in prayer. Bobby was a Hero to his family and the light of their lives. We know our youngest brother and prayer warrior will be greeting us someday with his great big smile and hug: “Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter thou into the joy of our Lord.” ~ Matthew 25:21

Friends will be received Thursday, February 27th, from 2-8 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd., and Friday, February 28th from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Community Church, 856 Benshoff Hill Rd., Pastor Rob Wolf officiating.
