Obituary

Schirato, Robert Thomas “Hobe”, 68, formerly of Longview, TX and Nanty Glo, passed away October 22, 2026, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born January 7, 1958, to the late Mario and Rita (Hoover) Schirato. Preceded in death by wife, Brenda (Tunget) Schirato; sister, Rita Jane McDonald (Ron); and brother, Daniel Schirato. Survived by siblings, Marlene Matejovich (Terry); Ronald Schirato (Christine); Cindy Molinick (Stefan); Lisa Howard (Hobie); very special niece, Terri Sechrengost; very special friend, Kathy Rusinak; sister-in-law, Theresa Schirato; and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert obtained his associates degree from Penn State University and his Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois. He was a dedicated employee of TXE for 36 years as a mining engineer. Robert thoroughly enjoyed his position and work. During his time in Longview, TX, Robert established a very special friend group, which he could often be found spending time with. Robert also enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to the staff of The Villa Crest and Conemaugh’s ICU 6^th floor, for all the compassionate care they provided. At Robert’s request, there will be no public services. Donations may be made in Robert’s memory to the South Branch Fishing Club in Nanty Glo.
