Obituary

Carrier, Robert V., 85, of Johnstown died on March 17, 2026. Son of John and Emily (Mock) Carrier. Preceded in death by mother; father; sisters, Phyllis Miles (Walter “Sonny” Miles), LaVern Watts (Frank “Buddy” Watts, Marcia “Jean” Sears, Patricia Maris (Bill Maris), and Edna Poley (Leo Poley); brothers, Donald Carrier and Glenn Carrier (Grace); wife, Shirley (Rager) Carrier; and son-in-law, Frederick Bigam. Survived by brother, John “Butch” Carrier; loving daughter, Pamela Bigam; grandchildren, Bobbi Bigam, James Bigam, and Kayla Bigam; great grandchildren, Madysen, Carter, and Brennan; favorite nephew, William (Boomer) Maris, and many other nieces and nephews; best friends, Bobby and Juanita Bloom; good neighbors, Allen and Missy Meyers, Chuck and Tonya McMunn and girls, Ben and Roxy, and Mike and Gwen.  Robert honorably served 3 years in the United States Army (1959-1962) and 5 years stand by for Vietnam. Some of his military accomplishments were expert with carbine rifle, marksmen with the M-1, good conduct medal of appreciation, and a Vietnam Era veteran (1961-1975). Robert worked at Bethlehem Steel for 30 years, was a member for VFW Post 554, American Legion Johnstown Post 0849, and bowled for 70 years on Sunday/Thursday mixed nights. He loved the casino, was a jack of all trades, and was a licensed Army mechanic, electrician, plumber, and carpenter. Friends will be received on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 2-4 and 6-8 at Hindman Funeral Homes, Frankstown Road. A service will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at 11 also at the funeral home. Robert will be laid to rest at Richland Cemetery with full military honors.
