Obituary
Roberta “Bertie” Chverchko, 69, of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, in her hometown.
Born on March 15, 1956, in Johnstown, Roberta brought warmth and compassion to all those around her. She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Ann Ayers and grew up surrounded by a close-knit family that shaped her generous spirit and unwavering dedication to others.
Roberta is lovingly remembered by her husband, Richard “Otis” Chverchko; her son, Michael Troyan Jr., and wife Jillian; her daughter, Trisha Winski; stepsons Matthew Chverchko and wife Michelle, Michael Chverchko and wife Jamie, sister, Carol Hower; and brother, John Ayers and his wife Bunny. She also leaves behind beloved grandchildren: Zachary, Connor, Makenzie, Samantha, Camryn, Katie and Dakota who brought immense joy to her life, as well as many nieces and nephews who cherished their time with “Aunt Bertie.” She was preceded in death by her sister Deborah Visosky and brother Dennis Ayers.
Known for her boundless generosity and deep empathy, Roberta had a heart that reached far beyond the boundaries of family. She would do anything for anybody—always stepping in to help resolve conflicts or offer comfort with kindness and understanding. Her ability to mediate with care made her a pillar of support for friends and loved ones alike.
Roberta found joy in simple pleasures. She loved cooking meals that brought people together around the table. Traveling was another passion, especially trips to Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, which held a special place in her heart. These visits were made even more meaningful when shared with her beloved niece Adrienne Berardi. In quieter moments, she enjoyed playing games on Facebook, connecting with friends near and far through laughter and friendly competition.
Her presence lit up every room she entered. Roberta touched countless lives with her warmth, humor, and unwavering devotion to those she cared about. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.
