Obituary

Ruth Carolyn Hindman, 96, peacefully passed away on September 19, 2025 at McCullough Place, Johnstown. Born June 24, 1929 in Scalp Level, Cambria County. Daughter of the late Ralph and Mabel (Weaver) Lehman. Also preceded in death by her dear husband, Robert W. Hindman; beloved grandson, Dezi Drew Hindman; and her siblings, Robert (Irene) Lehman, Mary Elizabeth Neidbalson, James (Billyann) Lehman, Lois (Robert) Machtley, Edwin (Dorthea) Lehman, and Sarah (Joseph) Flori. Survived by daughter, Kimberly Handlan Hindman and R. Craig Bittner; many cherished nieces and nephews; and many heartfelt friends. Ruth was a graduate of Windber High School and enjoyed a lengthy employment in the executive office of U.S. Bank, Johnstown. Ruth was an elegant and kind lady, who never lost her love of learning. She was generous, supportive, thoughtful, and readily shared everything. In return, she was loved by all whose lives she cared so much about. A special thank you to Craig Bitter, who was like a son to her, Tom and Shirley Hindman, Debbie Meredith and the staff of the Addison at McCullough Place and AseraCare Hospice. Everyone is invited to attend a graveside committal service which will be held at Grandview Cemetery, October 7th at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice or to the Scalp Level Covenant Brethren Church, 270 Hoffman Ave, Windber, PA 15963.
