Obituary

Ruth Helene (Maldet) Shoff, 92, went home to her Lord and Savior on April 27, 2026. Born on December 17,1933, in Johnstown, daughter of the late David and Ethel (Prough) Maldet. Survived by sons, Galen Shoff (Mary Engelberth) and Brian Shoff (Debbie Burger); seven grandchildren and their spouses; twelve great grandchildren; and brothers, Joseph and Daniel Madet.

Preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Ira A. Shoff, Jr.; daughter, Karen Shaulis; son-in-law, Roger Shaulis; grandson, Joshua Shaulis; brothers, David (Dolores) and William (Wanda) Maldet; and sister-in-law, Barbara Maldet.

Ruth was known for her home cooking and hospitality. She hosted countless Sunday dinners and holidays that brought family and friends together and where laughter and conversation filled the air. Her peach cobbler, apple dumplings, pies, and Christmas cookies were enjoyed by all.

She gave her time and talents baking for church gatherings, fundraisers, and community organizations. She treasured time with family and enjoyed summer vacations at Sunset Beach, NC. She tended to her garden, cared for her home, and watched life from her kitchen window. She was an active member of Faith Baptist Church and enjoyed studying God’s word and reading her Bible. Ruth’s life was marked by love strength, presence, and a lasting impact on her family. She will be remembered dearly by those who knew and loved her. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
