Obituary
REIGHARD Sheldon “Buck” N., 78, Five Asses Farm, Mount Hope Road, South Fork, passed away Feb. 2, 2010, at home. Born Aug. 30, 1931, in Johnstown, son of John and Ethel (Burnheimer) Reighard. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Ina Belle Reighard, Wilma Layton and Zona Strayer; and brother, Ronald Reighard. Survivors include his sons, Gregory Reighard, married to Angela (Koeplin), Clemson, S.C., and Chris Reighard, married to Jeanne (Wantiez), Ebensburg; grandchildren, Meghan, wife of Damian McHaffey, and Matt, Seth, Chelsea and Shane Reighard; sisters, Cleda Wilson, Johnstown; Nancy Restum, Sterling Heights, Mich.; and Connie Clement, married to Albert, South Fork; brother, Ray Reighard, married to Babe, Greencastle; and special friend, Kathy Garrity.
Buck was a Korean War veteran and a member of American Legion Post 551. He belonged to the Chestnut Ridge Horsemen’s Club, Dunlo Rod and Gun Club and the NRA. He retired from Bethlehem Steel after many years as a supervisor in the open hearth. Early in life, Buck was an avid coon hunter and lover of bluetick hounds, especially Jack, his prize champion. In later years, he became a mule aficionado and enjoyed riding his beloved Mert as well as Gator, Domino and Josie, and “named” his farm after them. His mules will miss him.
