Obituary

Manners, Telford E. “Gene”, 95, Union City, GA, formerly of Johnstown, passed away July 8, 2016 at Piedmont Fayette Hospital in GA. Born February 5, 1921 in Elders Ridge, PA. Son of the late Joseph and Hannah (Amstone) Manners. Preceded in death by loving wife, Jane (Campbell) Manners; and sister, Genevieve Manners Geodicke. Survived by daughter, Sandra Manners Hunter (Gordon); grandson, Trevon Broad; granddaughter, Carol Mays (Milton); and great granddaughters, Mahala J. and Ellie J. Broad; all of College Park, GA. Telford was a proud World War ll veteran who served in the 502nd AAA Gn. Bn. in the Philippine and Okinawa invasions. After serving, he was employed at Prudential Insurance Company and the PA State Welfare Department as a resource investigator. He was a member of Odd Fellows in Johnstown and the VFW in Indiana. He was also a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, Johnstown. Family and friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, at Hindman Funeral Homes, 146 Chandler Ave., where a service will follow, Rev. Roger L. Forry officiating. Interment at Grandview Cemetery, where VFW Post 155 will perform Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Bethany Presbyterian Church at 228 Blaine St., Johnstown, PA 15906.
