Obituary

Briggs, Weldon Raymond, 98, Johnstown, passed away September 20, 2021, at Arbutus Park Manor. Born January 19, 1923, to the late John and Henrietta (Jones) Briggs. Preceded in death by first wife, Manon (Buchanan) Briggs; second wife, Edna (Svoboda-Hagerich) Briggs; and stepdaughter, Gwendolyn Thompson. Survived by son, Raymond Briggs and girlfriend Carol Mooney; sister, Audrey Lipuma; stepson, Scott Hagerich and wife Diane; step granddaughters, Holly and Shannon; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Weldon was a U.S. Army veteran of WW2 and an inspector at Red River Army Depot in Texas. He graduated from East Conemaugh High School, class of 1941. At Weldon’s request, there will be no services. Donations may be made in Weldon’s memory to Conemaugh Church of the Brethren.
