Obituary

Chobany, William “Vasily”, 88, passed away February 16, 2022. Born March 13, 1933, in Johnstown, PA, son of late Joseph and Mary (Lehan) Chobany. William is preceded in death by brothers, Joseph, George, Deacon Father John and Andrew Chobany; sisters, Julie Girourd, Anna Zsidisin, Mary Yacos, Katie McCracken, Elizabeth Havrilak, and Matushka Barbara Oleynik. William leaves behind a sister-in-law, Mary Chobany (Portage), goddaughter, Janis Chobany (Portage), and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Graduated from Portage Borough, Portage, PA, and attended Saint Tikhon Orthodox Theological Seminary, South Canaan, PA. William loved cars, radios, TVs, and would always have a small radio or TV to give to a niece or nephew over the years. Burial service in Richland Cemetery, Wednesday, February 23rd at noon. A memorial service will be held March 27th at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Conemaugh.
