Obituary

Hamacek, William J. “Wild Bill”, 87, Johnstown, passed away July 9, 2024, at Memorial Medical Center. Born May 7, 1937, to the late Thomas and Mary (Simasek) Hamacek. Preceded in death by former wife, Dona Hamacek; infant son, David Hamacek; and siblings, Kathryn Radacij; Marg Haley; Thomas Hamacek; George Hamacek; Mary Hustick; and Agnes Hamacek. Survived by children, William Hamacek; Michael Hamacek, formerly married to Jill; Susan Haynal (Shawn); grandchildren, Jordan and Lydia Hamacek; Ava Haynal; sister, Joanne Hess; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill retired after 37 years from Bethlehem Steel. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, metal detecting, and playing poker. He also enjoyed “junkin” and flea markets. Bill was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan and was once called to pitch for them. Family will receive friends Thursday July 11th from 5 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. Committal service to be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Petka Cemetery.
