Swank, Ralph A., 90, Johnstown, passed away July 8, 2021, at Windber Hospice. Born June 29, 1931, to the late Harry and Florence (Sodano) Swank. Preceded in death by daughter, Christine Swank; granddaughter, Brenda (Zawalish) Burrell; and brother, Harry Swank Jr. Survived by loving wife, Darlene (Ribblett); children, Vicki Zawalish; Patty Eppley (Mark); Ralph Swank; grandchildren, John R. Zawalish (Rebekah); Tara (Zawalish) Furfari (Peter); Derek Zawalish; Joshua Eppley; Brittany Hose (Christian); grandson-in-law, Lance Burrell; great grandchildren, Victoria, Lauren, Hayley, Lindsey, Ava, and Cecilia; and sister, Joan Montuoro. Ralph was a proud veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He loved telling Coast Guard stories and jokes. He always had a smile on his face, even when times got tough. Ralph was a hardworking man that worked many jobs and retired from C&BL Railroad after 38 years of service. He was the former president of the local office of United Transportation Union. Ralph was a family man with a heart of gold. He was the rock of the family and will be sorely missed. Family and friends will be received Sunday July 11 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 146 Chandler Ave., where a service will be held Monday at 12 p.m. Flowers are welcome, and other donations may be made in Ralph’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
