Obituary

STURTZ – Barbara Ann (Liberty), 70, Stoystown, died April 4, 2009 at Mountainview Specialty Care Center. Born March 18, 1939 in Stoystown, daughter of the late B. Frank and Josephine (Meyers) Liberty. Survived by husband of 51 years Raymond L., children Tina (Sturtz) Berkey, Donald Sturtz and Barry Sturtz; grandchildren Brad Berkey, Kevin Berkey, Amanda (Sturtz) Beidel, Melissa (Sturtz) Wilson, Jeremy Sturtz, Elizabeth Sturtz and Nathaniel Sturtz; great-grandchildren Isaac and Ava Berkey, Cameron and Kaitlynn Beidel, Preston Wilson and Lily Sturtz. Also survived by sisters Evelyn (Liberty) Brown and Sherry (Liberty) Yoder. She belonged to Kantner United Methodist Church and graduated in 1957 from Forbes, now known as North Star High School. Barbara retired from Somerset State Hospital as a nurse’s aide. Some of her favorite activities included making porcelain dolls with a few friends, oil painting and pastel drawings where she was a member of the Somerset County Art Association and she also liked to make quilts and give them to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At the convenience of the family, there will be a private service, Rev. William Dodson, officiating.
