Obituary

Hess, Catherine Mary, 92, Johnstown, died April 30, 2011 at Cambria Care Center. Born Nov. 7, 1918 in Johnstown, daughter of the late Agusta and Irene (Skipper) Suhay. Preceded in death by husband, James E. Hess Sr.; brother Leo Suhay, sister Betty Trimmer and great-great granddaughter Nicole Hanlin.

Survived by children, Joan, married to Edward Hanlin, Johnstown; James Jr. and wife Kathy, Watauga, TX; Robert “Bob” and wife Mary, Johnstown; Larry Hess, Johnstown and Patricia, married to Mark Popolo, Johnstown. Also survived by 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and sisters Margaret Pettina, Johnstown and Eileen Stiffler, Johnstown ansd brother Richard “Dick” Suhay, Reading.

Catherine was a member of First United Methodist Church, retired from Penelec, with over 20 years of service and a member of the Association for the Blind. She was also a devoted bingo player.

Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Thursday at the Hindman Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 146 Chandler Ave, where funeral service will be held Friday at 11am. Rev. Larry Rowe, officiating. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Association for the Blind.
