Obituary

Zettle, Mary Jane (Badia), 86, Johnstown, died July 18, 2013 peacefully at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her family. Born September 25, 1926 in Johnstown, daughter of Ascencio and Lena (Delfonso) Badia. Preceded in death by infant daughter, Karen; former husband, Charles Unisko; parents; sisters, Florence Furgiuele and brother-in-law, James; Delores Bazzarelli and brother-in-law, Adam and Roberta Bartel and brothers, Raymond and Robert Badia. She is survived by her daughters; sister, Betty Verda and brothers, Vincent and sister-in-law, Loretta; Anthony and sister-in-law, Gloria and Victor Badia and sister-in-law, Jean, all of Michigan and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the ultimate loving and giving mother to her daughters, Diane (Unisko) and her husband, Ronnie Shomo; Linda (Unisko) and her husband, John Washko, both of Johnstown. She adored her grandchildren, Ronald Shomo and fianc, Kristi Cordek, Johnstown; Brian Shomo, married to Amanda (Mack), Lake Elsinore, CA; Shauna (Fuge), married to Mark Saylor, Roanoke, VA and Garrett Fuge, Johnstown. She continued her legacy of love to her six great-grandchildren, Ethan Shomo; Isabella and Issac Shomo and Sophia; Benjamin and Natalee Saylor. Mary Jane worked for Glosser Brothers then continued to work at Mercy Hospital until she retired with 20 years of service. After retiring, she volunteered her time at the Learning Lamp and many other organizations. She loved to dance; garden and crochet Afghans for her family; friends and anyone that was special to her. Christmas was extra special with so much thought going into the gifts she gave and all the baking she did for her family and friends. But, her greatest gift was the love she gave to her family and all those who knew her. She will be remembered as he most loving and caring mom; grandmother and great-grandmother in the world and will be sadly missed by all. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at 11am Tuesday, July 23rd at First Lutheran Church, Vine Street. Family suggest memorial donations be directed to Conemaugh Hospice.
