Obituary

Gawel, Robert J., Sr., passed away unexpectedly at home February 21, 2010. Born December 19, 1948 in Johnstown, son of the late Peter and Elizabeth (Shesko) Gawel. Survived by former wife, Darlene (Locher) Brinkman and these children; Robert J. Jr. and wife Tammy, Johnstown and Stacey Hill and husband William, Ewing, NJ. Also survived by brother Jerry and wife Shirley; sisters Shirley, wife of David Brazill, Johnstown; Lora, wife of Michael Wagner, Windber and Dorothy, wife of William Randall, Alabama. Also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Trey, Austin and Madison Hill, Ewing, NJ and Haley Mathes and Abigail Gawel, Johnstown and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert worked as a well known auto body technician for many years in Johnstown and was currently enjoying his recent retirement. Devoted father and grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Wednesday at the Hindman Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd., exclusive provider of veterans and family memorial care. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10am at Resurrection Catholic Church. Interment, St. Stephens Cemetery.
