Obituary

Ewanek, Agnes M.- 91, Hastings, went to be with Lord on Saturday October 7, 2017, at Amber Hills Nursing Home. Born July 14, 1926, in St. Benedict, PA; she was a daughter of the late Ignatius and Julia (Misinek) Hessler. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Michael Ewanek, her siblings, Joseph, Edward, George, James, and Leo. Agnes is survived by her children, Marlene Hamula, Ebensburg; Barbara Strait, Lansdowne, VA; Raymond Ewanek and his wife Nancy, Carlisle, PA; Jane Lipnic, Naples, FL; her grandchildren, Brock, Kim, Mark, Marshal, and Olivia; her great grandchild, Oliver; her brother Tom Hessler, Warren, OH; her sister Theresa Pandolfi, Boston, MA. Agnes was a loving and dedicated daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a devout catholic and was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. Agnes was a member of the Hastings Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, the Hastings VFW, and the St. Bernard Rosary confraternity.  Agnes enjoyed gardening, baking, canning, going on bus trips, and playing cards with the ladies. Friends and family will be received on Wednesday October 11, 2017 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Easly-Hindman Funeral Home, 333 Beaver St., Hastings, PA 16646. And again at St. Bernard Catholic Church on Thursday October 12, 2017 from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 11 a.m., Father Thaddeus Rettger O.S.B. Officiating. Interment will be at St. Bernard Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff at Amber Hills for the loving and compassionate care they provided for Agnes, as well as the staff from Asera Care Hospice for all of their compassionate care.
