Toth, Alex, 88, Johnstown, passed away November 25, 2020 at Windber Hospital. Born October 8, 1932 in Johnstown to the late George and Mary (Mesaros) Toth. Alex was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Preceded in death by daughter, Anita Toth, and siblings, Ann, Mary, John, George, and Michael. Survived by wife, Juniata (MacEwan) Toth; children, Alexis Toth; Rodger Toth (Melissa); Raymond Toth (Daniele); Randy Toth; grandchildren, Chris, Apryl, Roland, Ryan, Austin, Brady, Randi, Abby, Rylee, Trey, Belle, and Tage; 5 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, Eimee, Cookie, Elsie, and Georgie. Alex was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was employed by Bethlehem Steel and Johnstown America Corporation in the car shop. Upon retirement, Alex drove bus for Ribblett’s. Alex was very involved over the years with his sons baseball and softball teams. He helped coach and umpire Conemaugh Valley American Legion baseball and umpired for Tri Mountain softball. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates fan as well as an avid lottery player. Alex loved polkas and playing his accordion. He also very much enjoyed playing poker, especially with his family. Alex was a former board director for Conemaugh Valley School District and a member of First United Methodist Church. Special thank you to Christine Weaver and staff at Forest Hills Personal Care Home and the 3rd wing nurses at Windber Hospital. Friends will be received Sunday November 29 from 4-8 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd., where a service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Forest Hills Personal Care Home or First United Methodist Church.
