Kormanik, Alfred James, 79, Windber, died February 24, 2016 at Arbutus Park Manor.  Born February 16, 1937 in Windber; son of the late Andrew Sr. and Elizabeth (Lesko) Kormanik.   Preceded in death by brothers, Nicholas, Michael, Andrew Jr., John, Peter and Paul; sisters, Mary Horvath, Ann Bodnar, Helen Ostrosky, and Martha Welesko.  Survived by loving wife, Nancy L. (McCloskey); children, Steve and Ron Kormanik, both of Windber; and Ray Kormanik and Nancy Bowser, both of Bellefonte; grandchildren, Kayla, Nathan, Bethany, Hunter and Natalie; brother, Charles Kormanik, Kansas City, MO; sister, Ethel Slinar, Windber; numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved adopted pets Miley and Max.  He was a U.S. Navy Veteran.  A member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 354 for 55 years.  He worked for Windber Plumbing and Heating, and K & K Plumbing.  Also a member of the Windber Moose Lodge #349.  He loved making flag poles and made over 200 over the years.  He enjoyed building homes, baking pies, Steeler Football, camping and boating and liked to restore old cars, especially Mustangs and Camaros.  Friends received Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. 1521 Frankstown Rd.  Msgr. Raymond Balta will conduct a memorial service Sunday at 2 p.m. at the beginning of the visitation.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Windber.  Committal St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church Cemetery with military rites by Windber VFW Ritual Team.  Luncheon for family, friends, and guests will be held in the Church Hall of St Mary’s Church following the Cemetery services.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the family to be given to many of the charities that Alfred supported, including the church, Windber Hospice, and Windber School District.  Arrangements in care of Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd.
