Verbano, Amelia L., Chic, 81, Johnstown, went home to be with the Lord Aug. 21, 2017 at Richland Healthcare and Rehabilitation. Born April 3, 1936, Johnstown, daughter of the late Michael A. and Catherine M. (Paonessa) Rizzo. Survived by loving husband, Donald A. Verbano; son, Chris Verbano and wife, Cheri, Johnstown; siblings, Frank Rizzo and wife, Johnsie, Rices Landing; Patricia Sullivan and husband, William, Sarasota FL; and Nancy Pajan and husband, Jack, Delmont; numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews. Chic was a member of St. Clare of Assisi, formerly St. Anthonys and the Red Hat Ladies Society. She enjoyed going to Curves and was an avid supporter of the Roxbury Bandshell. Chic graduated from Johnstown High School in 1954 and continued on to the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, where she graduated in 1956. She proudly served as a Mercy nurse for 42 years. Chic will be remembered for having a genuine zest for life, as was made evident by the many lives that she touched with her kind and caring ways. Her laughter was infectious and her smile lit up the room. Friends and family will be received on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Road. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 25, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Clare of Assisi, 124 Maple Ave., Fr. Chuck Bridges, officiating. Interment St. Anthony Cemetery, Geistown.
