Vasbinder, Barbara Ellen, 76, Mineral Point, passed away December 12, 2019. Born September 9, 1943 to the late Charles and Edna (Gamble) Platt. Preceded in death by brothers, Lee, Donald, and Larry Platt; sisters, Georginna Emerson; Rebecca Knipple; and a great grandson. Survived by husband of 58 years, James Edward Vasbinder; children, Sherry Kinsey and husband Wayne; Jim Vasbinder and wife Lisa; Brandy Carbone and husband John; Joellen Nevins and husband Mike; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brother, James Platt; sister, Penny Neff; and additional family and friends. Barb loved to dance, gardening, and playing bingo. She loved to read the bible and was a member of Ebensburg Evangelical Bible Church in Revloc. Barb was an aide at Ebensburg State Center and went back to college when she was 40 years old. While in college she successfully remained on the Dean’s List. She enjoyed baking, her dice game, and watching Westerns and the ID Channel. Barb liked to paint, enjoyed traveling to other countries, and loved her family deeply. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made toward dementia and Alzheimer’s research.
