Popovich, Beverly A., 86, Indiana, passed away July 5, 2019 at home surrounded by her loving children. Born September 28, 1932 in Windber, daughter of the late Joseph and Leona (Surkosky) Miller. Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 55 years, John W. Popovich; her sister Rosemarie Zepka; and her brother, James Miller. She is survived by her children, John Popovich (Christine), Indiana, PA; Tammy Slater (Mark), Sterling, VA; her grandchildren, Matthew Popovich, Luke Popovich, Michael Slater, Christopher Slater, great-grand daughter Allison Elizabeth Slater; brother, Edward Miller, Verona, PA; sister, Mary Jo Miller, Export, PA; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other members of her extended family. After graduating Windber High School in 1951, Beverly joined the Women’s Army Corp. and was stationed at Fort Ord in Presidio of San Francisco, CA as a switchboard operator from 1952-54. She then returned home and married her husband, John, the boy across the street. In 1962 they moved from Windber to Arlington, VA where they lived happily for 30+ years before returning back to PA retiring in Indiana, PA. She was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Parish, Indiana, PA. She loved spending time with her family and friends and cooking Ethnic Polish foods for them. She was an avid Victorian doll collector and so enjoyed watching TV, especially EWTN, her beloved soap operas, and PITT & Penn State football, and was also a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She enjoyed watching her grandsons play Clymer Little League, Clymer Jr & Sr Legion baseball, and Penns Manor High School sports, and spending time with all of her many many dear friends at Two Lick Senior Center in Clymer, PA. Friends and family will be received on Tuesday July 9, 2019 from 4 PM to 8 PM at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 1521 Frankstown Road, Johnstown, PA 15902. A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday July 10, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 605 Graham Ave., Windber, PA 15963. Rev. Roderick Soha TOR, officiating. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Windber, PA. Military honors will provided by Menoher Post #155.
